Remote Education

In the event of school closure or requirement for a class bubble to self-isolate, remote learning will be posted here.

Mickley First School Remote Education Statement

At Mickley First School, we pride ourselves on being “A small school with big ambitions”
We aim to ensure every child has the best opportunities to reach their full potential, develop independence, and find a love of learning.

Attending school in person is always the best way for your child to learn, and we will only ever use remote education as a last resort.

However, we know there are times when your child might be unable to attend, such as during a school closure, when recovering from a short-term infectious illness, or after an operation

Our Approach: Keeping Learning Simple and Accessible

We understand that not every family has access to multiple computers or tablets at home. Because our school understands that technology can be difficult at times, our remote learning plan does not rely heavily on the internet or screen time.

To make sure every child has equal access to education at home, we will:

Provide printed resource packs: We will supply high-quality, meaningful printed worksheets and learning packs that match what is being taught in class.

Encourage reading and independent tasks: We will set activities that use reading books, writing tasks, and simple projects that can be done around the home.

Stay connected: Our teachers will keep in touch with you and your child using phone calls and other simple forms of communication to offer feedback and check on their progress.

Support for Every Child

Children with SEND: We know that remote learning can be extra challenging for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Our teachers will provide the right printed resources for your child’s specific needs and will work closely with you to support their learning at home.

Free School Meals

If your child is eligible for benefits-related free school meals and has to learn from home, we will work with our catering team to offer a good quality lunch parcel or a food voucher.

Keeping Safe and Well

Your child’s safety and wellbeing are our top priority. We will check in regularly to make sure your child is safe at home and managing their work.
If they do use the internet for any school activities, please make sure you are helping to keep them safe online.
