We’re thrilled to announce that our school has received a ‘Good’ rating across various key areas in our recent Ofsted inspection, conducted on the 13th and 14th of February 2024. This achievement reflects our unwavering dedication to providing an excellent educational experience for all our students.
Under the leadership of Headteacher Andrew Hudson, Mickley First School has become more than just a place of learning – it’s a welcoming and inclusive community hub, and the Ofsted inspection could see this! We take immense pride in the strong relationships we’ve built with our students and their families, fostering an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered.
One of our standout strengths lies in our commitment to providing leadership opportunities for our students. Initiatives such as school councils and eco-councils allow our students to actively participate in shaping our school community, giving them a sense of ownership and responsibility.
At Mickley First School, we’re dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of all our pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities. Our proactive approach to safeguarding, coupled with our collaboration with receiving middle schools to plan holistic education, underscores our commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for every child.
We value the input of parents and carers in our continuous efforts to enhance our school’s performance. Platforms such as Ofsted Parent View provide an avenue for feedback, which we welcome as we strive to further enrich the educational experience for our students.
Recapping on the report and inspection, Headteacher Andrew Hudson says, “Mickley is a wonderful school to be part of, we are very grateful to the school community for their support. This was evident throughout the inspection where the whole team felt the appreciation of families and we were blown away by the strength of support shown to us all. This inspection is another step on our journey and the whole staff team is committed to ensuring that whilst we may only be a small school, we have big ambitions for every one of our young people.”
As we continue on our journey of improvement, guided by the expertise of our leadership team and the unwavering support of the Cheviot Learning Trust, Mickley First School remains poised to build upon its successes and deliver an exceptional educational experience for every student who walks through our doors. Together, we’re shaping the future of our community, one student at a time. View the full report here.
